Community Economic Development
We work to build a sustainable local economy rooted in equity — one that creates real opportunity and meets the needs of the communities we serve.
An Economy Rooted in Equity
A healthy community is built on an economy that works for everyone who lives there. At Forward Youth Foundation, we invest in a sustainable local economy rooted in equity — one that creates real opportunity and meets the needs of the communities we serve.
For young people, that means more than a first job. It means career pathways in skilled trades, financial literacy, entrepreneurial support, and the mentorship, connections, and confidence to build lasting economic independence.
Skilled Trades & Apprenticeships
Our Pathway to Employment program opens doors to in-demand, future-proof trades — carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, and more — through apprenticeships, trades schools, and certifications AI can't replace.
Ready to Work
Hands-on employment support for newcomer youth — career readiness, essential life skills, and a team of experienced volunteers connecting young people to employers across Omaha.
Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship
Resume and interview coaching, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship training that help young people build their own paths — and their own businesses — with confidence.
Local Business & Civic Partnerships
Paid internships, apprenticeships, and shared resource networks with local businesses, schools, and municipal partners keep opportunity local and community wealth circulating close to home.
We invest in young people not just as workers, but as builders of a local economy that creates real opportunity and meets the needs of the communities we serve.
Every apprenticeship, certification, and launch of a young-owned venture strengthens the whole community — turning equity into living, breathing progress.
